Waitomo is located in the King Country region of the North Island of New Zealand.  Most famous for its abundant limestone caving systems and ancient underground formations – “stalactites” (pointing down), “stalagmites” (pointing up), “Coulombs”, and most famous “Glow worms”.  There are essentially two ways of experiencing this beauty: either by boat and well-worn tourist paths, or by donning a wet suit, gumboots, caving helmet & lamp, and a climbing harness…  Whether floating in an inner tube down perfectly-formed tunnels or abseiling (repelling) 100 meters free-hanging or 30 meters bouncing in and out of a waterfall – both involve delving into the depths of the earth!
